The first fixture of the point-to-point season is to be held at Bishops Court, Ottery St Mary, this coming Saturday, October 24, writes Donna Harris. It is thanks to a herculean effort from Devon and Cornwall Point-to-Point chairman Frank Yeo and secretary Gordon Chambers in combination with the Point-to-Point Authority and the fantastic efforts of the East Devon team. Following the disappointment of the early abandonment of racing in March due to Covid-19 pandemic, a huge thanks must go to the Totnes and Bridgetown Racing Co Ltd for their generous sponsorship to help fund the three fixtures scheduled to take…

There was a special presentation made before the game with Oscar Walsh presented with his county cap by Devon FA’s Dudley Frood. The award was made to the youngster in recognition of his 15 appearances for the Devon U18s team. Walsh certainly marked the occasion in style as he went on to net two of the Fenny…
Ottery St Mary AFC goalkeeper Jacob O’Callaghan celebrated picking up the club’s September Player of the Month award with a second successive clean sheet in his table-topping side’s 3-0 win at Totnes and Dartington. Ottery St Mary Football Club were 4-0 winners when they entertained Kingsteignton in a midweek Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League South and West fixture. Pete Grover scored twice, his first to open the scoring came with a clinical finish after some neat approach play with Liam Carey, the latter back in action after an absence on holiday. The final Sunday of September saw the curtain come down on the 2020 outdoor bowling campaign at Ottery St Mary, writes Ron Cook. The ongoing Covid-19 situation led to a much-shortened season. It was back in July that the Ottery club captains initiated a Ladder Competition for singles and pairs and it received great support with no fewer than54 players taking part. The competition had a simple format; challenge any of the three players above you on the ladder and the winner takes their opponents’ place. However, what was not anticipated was the enormous competitive response! No fewer than 270…

Ottery St Mary Football Club remain unbeaten at the start of their Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League South and West campaign after a 1-1 draw with Okehampton Argyle. Both teams went into the fixture sporting perfect 100 per cent records this fledgling season and, fittingly, after a thrilling close encounter, honours ended even. The fact that the contest saw just two goals was very much down the excellence of the two goalkeepers who both made a number of ‘top drawer’ saves. Played under the Washbrook Meadows floodlights on Wednesday night and watched by an excellent turnout, the game saw the…

The home side batted first and it was Phil Tolley and David Thayre who were tasked with launching the Tipton innings. They saw off the new ball, though Thayre did offer a chance – one that was dropped when he was on two! The openers took their side into three figures before Thayre succumbed to the 62nd delivery he faced, bowled by Max Weston for 59, an innings that…
