East Devon football preview: FA Vase action, Devon and Exeter league kicks off, and plenty more

Local football fans in East Devon are spoilt for choice this Saturday (September 19) in terms of what game they can take in.
There is FA Vase action at Southern Road in Exmouth and Manstone Lane in Sidmouth.
Exmouth Town FC host South West Peninsula League Premier West side Mousehole (3pm kick-off).
The Cornish side come to East Devon having made a perfect start to the new league campaign.
Town had lost back-to-back games 2-0; first in a midweek league game at Plymouth Parkway and again last Saturday at home to Southern League Melksham Town in the FA Cup.
But the side enjoyed a splendid 4-1 home win on Wednesday night against Tavistock.
Last season’s leading scorer Jordan Harris bagged a hat-trick and Ace High also netted.
Sidmouth Town AFC had a stunning 6-3 success at Cullompton Rangers on Tuesday night.
What made the final score all the more remarkable was the fact that the Vikings had trailed 3-0 after 40 minutes during which time they were very much ‘second best’.
But they scored twice in the last knockings of the first-half and then netted four more in the second half.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Vikings have home advantage for their tie with Western League Division One outfit Cheddar (3pm).
There’s also home action at the Greenway Lane home of Budleigh Salterton AFC with the Robins entertaining St Martins (3pm).
Axminster Town AFC are also in FA Vase action away to Launceston.
Honiton Town FC travel to North Devon for a South West Peninsula League Premier East contest against a Holsworthy side they beat 2-1 at Mountbatten Park on the first Saturday of the new season.
Ottery St Mary AFC are in league action when they travel to Bere Alston for their fifth Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League South and West game of the season.
The Otters head for South Devon sitting top of the fledgling league.
It’s also day one of the Joma Devon and Exeter League with games across East Devon.
Top billing, in terms of East Devon-based clubs, goes to the fixture at Furzebrake where Beer Albion will entertain Feniton in a Premier Division fixture.
