An Axminster woman has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year after she drove without a licence and crashed into a family’s car in East Devon, fleeing the scene. Police appeal for crash witnesses after a motorcyclist is seriously injured in East Devon

Police are investigating a serious crash in East Devon where a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. The emergency services were at the start of March called to a junction of the A35 near Axminster where a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, ridden by a man in his 70s, was involved in a crash with a car. Police said the road was closed for several hours while paramedics were at the scene with the motorcyclist, who was left with potentially life-changing injuries. An elderly stray cat with a cancerous eye, living on the streets in Axminster, has a new home after a volunteer-run East Devon animal charity paid for his lifesaving operation and found him a loving family. Volunteers at the Cats Protection Honiton & Axe Valley branch came to the rescue of black and white cat Archer, after a couple feeding the stray became concerned about his health. An Axminster dad slapped with a driving ban after he took cannabis while behind the wheel promised a court ‘it will never happen again’. A 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to drug-driving in Seaton on 13 September 13 last year, writes Isabelle Pinnock, OPCC court reporting scheme.
