Sand-tastic achievement for East Devon beaches scooping Blue Flag and Seaside awards

East Devon is celebrating a sand-tastic achievement after four beaches scooped Blue Flag and Seaside Awards. Exmouth and Sidmouth beaches both won Blue Flag and Seaside awards, while Seaside awards went to Budleigh Salterton and Jacob’s Ladder. Budleigh Salterton failed to scoop a 2026 Blue Flag award because of a fall in water quality. And beaches at Seaton and Beer were left empty-handed amid a lack of lifeguard provision. A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger were seriously injured and remain in hospital after they were involved in a crash with a car in Seaton. A new freshwater marsh the size of 18 football pitches is among plans to boost an East Devon nature reserve if a multi-million-pound funding bid proves successful. Buses to replace trains during ‘essential’ rail line improvements in East Devon over Easter

Buses will replace trains for some East Devon rail passengers over the Easter weekend when engineers replace a section of track that runs through Seaton Junction, to the west of Axminster.
