Exeter leaders have agreed a £2.5million facelift to transform a ‘notoriously unpleasant’ dark and dingy city centre car park. An Exeter car park once described as a urine-smelling ‘dystopian film set’ where pedestrians fear to tread is to be transformed, writes local democracy reporter Guy Henderson. Some six weeks of temporary traffic lights for a residential area of Honiton starts at the end of July while more than two miles of gas pipes are upgraded. Wales & West Utilities has announced multi-way and rolling two-way traffic lights on Honiton Bottom Road from July 27 until September 2, and multi-way traffic lights on Littletown Road, also starting on July 27 until August 7. The heatwave has prompted South West Water to call on customers in parts of East Devon to cut shower times and slash daily use, revealing tankers are helping to ease drinking water demand.
