A woman died when a car crashed on the A30 near Honiton, sparking police to launch a witness appeal.
Police said a 28-year-old passenger travelling in a Cupra Formentor SUV died at the scene when the vehicle crashed on Saturday afternoon (August 8).
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. The woman’s next of kin were contacted.
A stretch of the A30 near Honiton was closed for several hours for the emergency services and while crash scene investigations were carried out.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw the crash, or with dashcam footage.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and relevant dash-cam footage following a fatal road traffic collision on the A30 near Honiton.
“At around 2.10pm on Saturday 8 August police were informed of the single vehicle collision involving a grey Cupra Formentor on the A30 near to Honiton.
“Sadly, the front seat passenger of the vehicle – a 28-year-old woman from the Milton Keynes area – was declared deceased at the scene.
“The driver suffered minor injuries. Next of kin has been notified.”
The force spokesperson said roads policing officers and local police were at the scene and carried out a thorough investigation, resulting in the road being closed for several hours.
The police spokesperson added: “Officers would like to thank members of the public for their assistance as well as their understanding and patience.”
