A pair of penalties from Jordan Harris and a double from substitute Dan Boere helped guide Exmouth Town FC to a 5-0 win at Bishops Lydeard in a pre-season friendly yesterday (Saturday, July 20). Harris scored the only goal of a closely-contested first half, netting from the penalty spot a minute before the break. In the second half, Boere scored twice and Jimmy Hinds also netted before Harris competed the scoring with a second successful spot-kick. An Exmouth Karate Academy competition raised £1,350 for charity Dream-A-Way – leaving the cause ‘absolutely amazed’.   The Exmouth Cup, held for the second time this year, drew support from clubs from across Devon, Somerset, Wales and Portsmouth. Exmouth Town FC play warm-up match number three tomorrow (Saturday, July 20) when they visit Bishops Lydeard. The Somerset side will kick off a second season in the Toolstation Western League Division One on August 3 when they travel to Hengrove. Town launch their own Toolstation Western League campaign, albeit as a Premier Division club, on the same date with a home game against Bridport Town. Brixington Blues Under-14s netted their fifth competition victory of the 2019 tournament season when they triumphed in Newton St Cyres. Blues, managed by David Haggerty and Chris Drew-Cull, eased through the group stages before winning their semi-final 6-2 against Central. In the final, the Blues’ boys defeated Exeter Panthers 5-1. The win completes a super summer season for the team, who now take some time off before starting life in September as an Under-15s team playing in the Exeter and District Youth League. Exmouth Town will host Barnstaple Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup. The ‘Devon derby’ will be played at Southern Road on Saturday, August 10, when, as well as a place in the preliminary round, the winners will also bank a cheque for £2,250 and the losers will pick up £750. Exmouth Town FC made a fine start to their pre-season competitive action as they brushed aside visiting Sidmouth Town, beating them 6-0 at Southern Road in a midweek evening contest. Young footballers celebrated success in an Exeter City tournament at the home of Collumpton Rangers Brixington Blues Under-14s are celebrating after winning the Exeter City youth football tournament for the second year running. The competition was hosted this year by Cullompton Rangers Football Club. Brixington Blues entered two teams in the under-14s age group; one being Blues and the other United.
