The 2020 Madeira Bowls Club Finals action was never going to be like a ‘normal’ year owing to the on-going restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. With social distancing the ‘order of the day’, the first of two days of ‘finals action’ were held in wonderfully sunny conditions. A reduction in numbers because of the pandemic had meant fewer competitions for 2020 with the action focussing on the mixed triples, the men’s triples and both the men’s and the ladies’ pairs. The competitions that would run were: Mixed Triples, Men’s Triples and both Men’s and Ladies’ Pairs. Day one of…

Exmouth Town Football Club marched into the next round of the FA Cup with a superb all-round display that saw them win 3-1 away at Keynsham Town, writes John Dibsdall. What made the result all the more impressive was the fact that, on both occasions they travelled to play on artificial surfaces last season, Town had been beaten – losing 1-0 at Keynsham and 3-2 at Roman Glass St George. Town were clearly well-prepared for this game and it was obvious from the first whistle that they were determined not to lose a third successive game on such a surface.…

Town’s opening competitive game is tomorrow’s (Tuesday, September 1) FA Cup extra preliminary round tie away at Keynsham Town. It is what it is and we have to be able to cope with such tough sequences of matches – Andy Rawlings The opposition play on an artificial surface and defeated the Southern Road men 1-0 when the pair met in Bristol for a Toolstation league fixture last…

Exmouth Town Football Club will be backed by fewer supporters than normal when they face Keynsham Town away in the FA Cup on Tuesday (September 1). That is because the Southern Road men have been allocated just 25 tickets for the extra preliminary round tie. With supporters allowed back into grounds, albeit under strict controls owing to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, Town’s supporters will be in far fewer numbers than they might otherwise have been. Last October, Exmouth lost 1-0 at Keynsham in a match attended by more Town followers than home supporters. However, with restrictions in place the ground…
