Police and Ottery St Mary Football Club have teamed up to tackle nuisance youths blighting Washbrook Meadows with unruly antics and vandalism. A ‘small minority’ of youngsters’ bad behaviour could see the well-behaved majority pay the penalty – as the facilities could now be shut off to the general public. Seven burglaries, which took place in less than two weeks in Exeter, Exmouth and Honiton, could be linked, detectives believe. Cash, jewellery and designer handbags were taken during raids between June 23 and July 3. Police have this evening (July 23) released images of distinctive items stolen during the break-ins and have issued an appeal for help from the public. Sidmouth went quackers for its annual Duck Derby today (Sunday, July 21). The tradition, organised by the Lions Club of Sidmouth, attracted huge crowds to The Byes. There was plenty of fun on offer for children with a big slide, bouncy castle and ice creams. Youngsters took part in a host of ‘duck and spoon’ races – and mums, dads and grandparents also got to compete. Staff at Sidmouth College have let their hair down with an end-of-term spot of Carpool Karaoke – belting out chart-topping George Ezra hit Shotgun.  A bumper number of teachers and their colleagues have taken to Youtube with the class three-and-a-half-minute video. An 82-year-old woman who was reported missing from Sidmouth today (Friday, July 19) has been found safe and well. Daphne West was located by police following a search and public appeal. A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said tonight: “Daphne West, who was missing from Sidmouth, has been located safe and well by police this evening. “Police would like to thank everyone who responded to the earlier appeal with information.” Read more Sidmouth news here.

Honiton Town Council has issued a statement to say it intends to go ahead with the re-introduction of parking charges at The Beehive. However, it says, it does so ‘only after much consideration and debate’. The charges will apply during the day and evening, but Sunday parking will be free. Disabled parking at the Dowell Street car park will also be free to those displaying a valid blue badge. The speed limit on the busy A3052 between Sidmouth and Newton Poppleford is set to be reduced to 40mph. County councillors have supported the move at Four Elms Hill – as well as extending the ‘no overtaking’ zone along part of the road. Slashing the speed limit by 20mph was approved by members of the East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) yesterday (Thursday, July 18).
