An in-demand new minor injuries service launched at the start of July for Seaton and the surrounding villages is already considering recruiting more staff if patient numbers continue. Seaton & Colyton Medical Practice, in Harepath Road, Seaton, announced it was opening a new minor injuries unit at the start of the month for registered and non-registered patients. Within weeks of opening the service has been used regularly, treating around four patients each day with injuries such as lacerations, burns, insect and animal bites. A ‘generous and spiritual’ East Devon mum who died after a fatal crash in Colyford has helped others after her death by donating her organs. Mary Teresa Jones, aged 79, who lived in Colyford, East Devon, died on December 17, 2025, after crash in the village, resulting in her being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. A woman in her 70s riding a three-wheeled electric tricycle died after a crash in East Devon on Sunday afternoon (July 27). The emergency services were called shortly after 2pm to a fatal crash on the A358 between Boshill Cross and Musbury involving a three-wheeler Invictus trike, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a VW Golf car. The woman riding the electric tricycle died at the scene. Her next of kin were with her at the time, police said. Numbers of East Devon voters turning out to the ballot boxes amid the county elections has fallen while postal votes increased, it has been revealed. Voter turnout at the ballot box is down in the biggest district of Devon’s county-wide elections, writes local democracy reporter Bradley Gerrard.
