Police say a woman in her 70s has died after a car crash on Exmouth seafront, sparking an appeal for witnesses.
The emergency services were called to Queen’s Drive, Exmouth, on Sunday morning (July 12) where a woman from Berkshire had died at the scene.
Police say the car being by the woman was involved in a crash with a parked vehicle, sparking investigating officers to appeal for witnesses.
The road was closed for several hours by police while crash scene investigations took place.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a fatal road traffic collision in Exmouth on Sunday 12 July.
“Officers were called to Queens Drive at around 8.45am following a report of the collision involving a blue Ford EcoSport and a parked car.
“Sadly, as a result of the collision, the EcoSport driver – a woman in her 70s from Windsor – was pronounced deceased. Her next of kin are aware.”
They added: “The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.
“Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.”
