A netball tournament being hosted by Honiton Netball League in aid of a cancer charity has been given a boost from a developer donation.
Honiton Netball League is gearing up to host the third Pivot Charity Netball Tournament on July 5, where 16 ladies teams will compete at the University of Exeter, in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.
This week Persimmon Homes donated £1,700 to the tournament, presenting the funds at one of its developments in East Devon.
Tournament organisers said the donation would allow for every penny raised though the competition to be given to FORCE.
Last year, the competition raised £1,500 for Hospiscare, a charity providing a host of support, free at-home help and hospice services for end-of-life patients and their families in Exeter, East and mid Devon.
Kirsty Crowe, from Honiton Netball League, said: “We wish to thank Persimmon homes for their generous donation. Their support has ensured that all tournament costs have been met allowing every penny to be donated directly to FORCE Cancer Charity.
“This contribution has made a meaningful difference and helped maximise the impact of our fundraising efforts for those affected by cancer in our community. This is our third year running the tournament and it’s going from strength to strength with 16 teams involved this year.”
FORCE Cancer Charity thanked the netball tournament organisers for the support amid rising costs to provide its vital services in the community.

“With the need for our services rapidly rising, donations such as these ensure that we can keep supporting people and their families when they need it most, here in the heart of Devon.
“An extended thanks to Kirsty and the whole team, for choosing to support FORCE at this event.”
The developer said it annually donates £700,000 to good causes across the UK. In East Devon and Exeter, funds have been received by Broadclyst Parish Council, Bowhill Primary School, and Newcourt Community Centre.
Stacey Harris , Persimmon Homes South West sales director, said the developer recognised the work of FORCE and the support the charity offers across Exeter and Devon.
She said: “We are delighted, therefore, to be backing Honiton Netball League’s efforts to raise funds for them and commend all those involved in the tournament. Best of luck to the teams as they compete for glory next month.”
