Road closures and restricted access to homes in Honiton have been confirmed by county highways chiefs ahead of planned resurfacing works.
Jerrard Crescent, Jerrard Close, and Langford Avenue in the town are expected to be resurfaced before September, but dates to carry out the work are yet to be confirmed.
Honiton Town Council said its contractor will deliver information leaflets to homes in locations earmarked for resurfacing ahead of the works taking place.
The county council said the work relies on dry weather and could be completed within one to three days.
Road closures are planned while resurfacing takes place, and access to some homes could be restricted for around 30-minutes while the work is completed.
The authority warned on-street parking will be off limits while resurfacing takes place.
Contractors refreshing the surface dressing will sweep the road and remove any debris, spray a layer of bitumen binder on the surface for small stone chippings to stick to. The surface will be rolled and any loose chippings not embedded in bitumen will be swept up.

A Devon County Council spokesperson said: “Surface dressing is planned to be carried out in Honiton at Jerrard Crescent, Jerrard Close, and Langford Avenue in the coming months. Dates of work are still to be confirmed, but road closures will be needed and there may be short periods of restricted access to properties.
“This work is weather dependant as the materials need to be laid on dry roads, so when road signs go out they will display dates for a five day ‘weather window’. However, most sites are completed between one and three days.
“Surface dressing is designed to seal the road to prevent water from getting under the surface. This prolongs its life. It also improves surface texture to ensure adequate grip and skid resistance.”

The work is being carried out by as part of the town’s annual maintenance in the Honiton and Feniton areas.
The new surface can usually be driven on around half an hour after the surface dressing work has been completed.

A Honiton Town Council spokesperson said: “Our contractor, Kiely Bros, will deliver further information and leaflets to residents a few days prior to the start of works. “Given the unpredictable weather and the nature of the surface dressing process, the programme will inevitably change.”
