A pensioner pedestrian left with life-threatening injuries after a crash near Sidmouth has died in hospital, sparking a police appeal.
Police are appealing for witnesses after it was reported a black Range Rover and a 75-year-old man were involved in a crash in Under Lane, at Harcombe, near Sidmouth, shortly after 3pm on Monday, November 17.
Officers want to hear for anyone who saw what happened, or with dashcam footage of the crash.
Police closed roads for several hours while forensic officers were at the scene.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Sidmouth, which involved a car and a pedestrian on Monday and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
“Emergency services were called to Under Lane, Harcombe, near Sidmouth at around 3.10pm on Monday 17 November, where it was reported that a pedestrian had been in collision with a black Range Rover.
“The pedestrian, a 75-year-old local man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he sadly died a few hours later. His next of kin have been informed.”
The spokesperson added: “Local road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the scene.”
