A woman in her 70s riding a three-wheeled electric tricycle died after a crash in East Devon on Sunday afternoon (July 27).
The emergency services were called shortly after 2pm to a fatal crash on the A358 between Boshill Cross and Musbury involving a three-wheeler Invictus trike, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a VW Golf car.
The woman riding the electric tricycle died at the scene. Her next of kin were with her at the time, police said.
The motorcyclist was treated in hospital for minor injuries and the driver of the car was not hurt.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash.
The road was closed for several hours, reopening in the evening, while forensic officers investigated the crash scene.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Musbury at the weekend are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
“We received a report of a serious road traffic collision involving a three-wheeler Invictus trike, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a VW Golf car, soon after 2pm on Sunday 27 July on the A358 between Boshill Cross and Musbury.
“The ambulance service and police attended the scene.
“Despite the best efforts of everyone, the rider, a woman in her 70s from the Taunton area, sadly died at the scene.
“Her next of kin were with her at the time and have been supported by officers.
“The male rider of the motorbike was treated in hospital for minor injuries. The male driver of the car was not hurt.
“Roads Policing Officers attended as well as forensic collision investigators and conducted a thorough investigation of the scene.”
The spokesperson added: “The road was closed for several hours whilst the investigation took place and reopened soon after 7pm.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and patience.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not spoken to us yet is asked to please make contact as soon as possible – in particular anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV.”
