A registered sex offender from Honiton has been jailed after cops caught him heading for Wiltshire to abuse a young girl.

But his sick plans were foiled and when he arrived in Wiltshire he was met and immediately arrested by South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) officers.
Police said Iacomino posed a ‘risk’ to children; the paedophile admitted he had set up the meeting with a young girl with the intention to sexually abuse her.
Detective Inspector Dave Wells, who leads the SWROCU online investigations team, said: “Iacomino is clearly a dangerous sex offender who admitted his intentions to meet and sexually abuse a young girl.
“He is a risk to children in our communities and, through the making and sharing of indecent images, continued to cause harm to victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.”
DI Wells added: “Our team is part of a national network of officers working to identify people like Iacomino who are looking to abuse or exploit children. His arrest was part of this ongoing work.”
Iacomino, who was already on the Sex Offenders’ Register and had been remanded in custody since his arrest, was last week jailed for eight years and 10 months, with a five-year 10-month stay in prison.
Appearing at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, May 16, the court heard Iacomino was deemed to need ‘careful supervision’ after release.
And because he ‘represented a significant and ongoing risk of causing harm in the future by the commission of similar further offences’, the judge handed down three years on extended licence.

Iacomino admitted arranging to meet a young girl with plans to sexually abuse her.
He also pleaded guilty to making and distributing indecent images, and possessing ‘extreme’ pornography.
Some four further offences, two of making and two of distributing indecent images of a child, will lie on file.
Iacomino was put on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely and slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
A spokesperson for the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit said: “A registered sex offender who travelled from Devon to Wiltshire to sexually abuse a young girl has been jailed following an investigation by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU).
“Jon Iacomino, 56, from Honiton, made the journey last September, after communicating online to make plans to abuse a girl.
“When he arrived in Wiltshire, he was met by officers from SWROCU, arrested, and has been remanded in custody since.”
The SWROCU said Iacomino was already on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
He pleaded guilty in March to two counts of arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence, three counts of making category A, B and C indecent images, two counts of distributing category C indecent images, one count of possessing extreme pornography.
He was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on May 16, 2025, to a total of eight years and 10 months, with five years 10 months in prison and three years on extended licence.
