Excitement over official opening of brand-new ‘pump track’ in Cranbrook

Bike, scooter and skateboard enthusiasts in Cranbrook are looking forward to the official opening of brand-new ‘pump track’.

A community event is taking place to mark the occasion on Saturday, September 21, from noon to 3pm at the facility in the town’s country park.

The track will offer riders the unique experience of gathering and maintaining momentum through a technique known as ‘pumping’.

This new attraction is already generating buzz among residents…

Free-to-use Cranbrook Pump Track is open to all skill levels – whether you are on a bicycle, scooter, roller skates, or skateboard.

The track was developed by Cranbrook Town Council and co-funded through its partnership with East Devon District Council and Sports England-backed Move More Cranbrook.

The community event will allow participants to have a go on the track – and will also to see demonstrations from professional BMX riders and home-grown young talents.

There will be games and competitions with prizes available for those who want to get involved.

Cranbrook Town Council chairman Les Bayliss said the track ‘marks another exciting development’.

The new town already boasts the award-winning 35-hectare Cranbrook Country Park, five popular play areas, and a skate park.

Councillor Bayliss added: “This new attraction is already generating buzz among residents.

“Cranbrook Town Council is committed to making the town a hub for healthy and active living for people of all ages.

“Special thanks to East Devon District Council and Move More Cranbrook for their funding and support in bringing this fantastic facility to life.”

Move More Cranbrook’s Matt Rowett said facilities like the track ‘are important to help people to be more active’.

He added: “Watching all ages and abilities circle around the pump track is really exciting and we can’t wait for it to be launched officially with a celebration. There will be heaps going on for those without a bike, too.”
