If you are heading home and already got Beautiful Days Festival blues, East Devon News captured some of Sunday’s imaginative, fun, costumes after scores of revellers embraced the 2024 Masquerade theme

Fields filled with family fun were found in East Devon at the 2024 Beautiful Days Festival with three days of top-class live music, entertainment, food, drink – and costumes galore – and more.

Away from the music there was walkabout theatre, site art, children’s entertainment and activities, folk sessions, wellbeing therapies, and a vast selection of food catering for all tastes, plus a host of stalls to browse, selling eclectic and unique gifts, clothes, jewellery and more.

Children’s play areas, woodland crafts and activities were packed out all weekend.

A line-up of top names wowed the crowds at the Levellers’ annual family music festival, August 16-18, at Escot, near Ottery St Mary.

The 2024 festival line-up treated scores of music lovers to performances by Richard Ashcroft, The Saw Doctors, The Levellers, The Damned, Inspiral Carpets, Badly Drawn Boy, Toyah, and New Model Army, to name a few.

Down the hill at The Bimble Inn, lured inside by the literal laid-back, cosy, atmosphere, it was – as ever – hard to leave the low-lit snug of live music, where the party continued into the early hours of the morning.

The festival fun spread across six stages, a packed-out theatre tent, plus the sing-along site the Magic Teapot – a cosy and intimate fireside venue where song requests were taken.

Revellers rose to the challenge of the annual tradition of a colourful Sunday dress-up theme – this year Masquerade – creating and wearing some unique fancy dress and costumes.

Big Brother winner Pete Bennett was spotted with friends in the festival fields, and MP Jeremy Corbyn attracted crowds in The Rebel Tent.

Headlining the Main Stage on Friday night was acclaimed Irish legends The Saw Doctors, who staged a comeback in 2023 after a five-year break in touring.

The festival’s Saturday headliner was two-time Ivor Novello winner Richard Ashcroft.
