Kids’ play parks in towns across East Devon are set for a facelift, prompting the district council to invite residents’ feedback.
Some nine play areas in Exmouth, Ottery St Mary, Honiton and Whimple will benefit from £1million investment, upgrading equipment and safety surfaces.
East Devon District Council has launched an online consultation, until 5pm on August 23, inviting residents to share what they want from a play area.
The play areas due for an upgrade are:
- Exmouth
Baker Close, Carter Avenue, Byron Way, and Littleham Village Hall - Honiton
Whitebridges, Willow Walk and Allhallows - Whimple
Slewton Crescent - Ottery St Mary
Land of Canaan
An EDDC spokesperson said: “The equipment at these locations has reached the end of its life and requires replacing.”
They added: “The consultation questions ask what local families think about the current play areas and the kinds of activities that they would like to be included in the refurbishment.
“After the consultation, the council will identify its preferred supplier to manufacture the equipment. EDDC hopes to install the new play areas in summer 2025.”

Councillor Geoff Jung’s EDDC portfolio holder for coast, country, and environment, said: “Recent upgrades to East Devon’s play areas in Budleigh Salterton, Beer, and Exmouth have proved very popular.
“I am delighted that nine extra locations will be refurbished, and I encourage local families to share their thoughts about what they would like to see at their nearest play area.”
