Drizzle the donkey launches a new wildlife trail amid Easter family fun at the Sidmouth sanctuary

Visitors to The Donkey Sanctuary, at Sidmouth, over the holidays will have a chance to win an Easter egg if they take part in a new spring trail.

Drizzle the donkey is challenging visitors to the sanctuary to explore and discover some of the wildlife at the site, following clues on a trail sheet in a bid to spot animals and plants.

Drizzle’s Green Guardians Easter Trail is £5 to enter. Entry to The Donkey Sanctuary is free.

A spokesman for the animal charity said: “The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth makes the perfect free family day out this Easter while the new spring trail gives visitors the chance to win an Easter egg too.

“With spring in full bloom, visitors can explore and discover some of the wildlife that live in and around the sanctuary with Drizzle’s Green Guardians Easter Trail.

“By following clues on their trail sheet, people will be able keeping an eye out for animals and plants that thrive around the sanctuary.”

He added: “The sanctuary is home to thousands of insects, animals and plants, and Adoption donkey Drizzle and her friends lend a helping hand to boost the biodiversity on the land by grazing meadows and spreading seeds around in their coats.”

Trail sheets cost £5 each and those taking part can choose an Easter egg or rosette on completion.

The sanctuary is gearing up for a visit from ‘gardening supremo’ Anne Swithinbank on Wednesday, May 1.

East Devon resident Anne is a renowned horticulturalist who has been a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask Anne all their gardening queries.

Tickets are £30, available on the sanctuary’s website.
