Seriously-injured motorcyclist is airlifted to hospital after a crash in East Devon, prompting police to appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in East Devon where a seriously-injured motorcyclist was this week airlifted to hospital.

The emergency services were on Tuesday evening (September 26) called to a stretch of road between Cranbrook and Clyst Honiton, East Devon, after a car and Harley Davidson motorbike crashed.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with ‘potentially life changing injuries’, said police.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The B3174 between Cranbrook and Clyst Honiton, in East Devon, was closed while police investigated the crash scene.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called at around 5.45pm on Tuesday 26 September 2023 to the B3174 between Cranbrook and Clyst Honiton to a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

“The incident involved a silver Isuzu D-Max and a black Harley Davidson motorcycle.

“As a result of the incident, the male motorbike rider was conveyed to hospital by Devon Air Ambulance with serious, potentially life changing injuries.

“The male driver of the car was uninjured.

“Police remained at the scene to carry out a scene investigation and the road was closed during this time.”

The spokesperson added: “Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch and report it, including dash-cam footage.”
