Across East Devon people are catching their breath today after four fabulous days of celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne.
As these photos show, street parties, family fun, big lunches, live music, games, scarecrow competitions, a host of entertainment for all ages – and not forgetting so much laughter, love and goodwill – came from across the towns and villages of East Devon as we joined the rest of the country in showing our appreciation of Her Majesty as thanks for the Queen’s 70 years of service and duty.

Scores of street parties were held across Exmouth as neighbours came together to drape bunting and fill cul-de-sacs, roads and gardens with tables, to share food and fun long into the evening.

In Sidmouth, Honiton and Budleigh Salterton the town centre became the stage for large-scale street parties, with scores of tables laden with food fit for a Queen – as families and friends, wearing red, white and blue, celebrated while tucking into their feast.

In Poltimore village residents vying to win the best scarecrow competition gave the judge the unenviable task of picking the best entry.
A right royal scarecrow hunt in Honiton raised money for Hospiscare – while the local branch of the charity turned its pop-up shop in the town into the guard – selling spot-the-object activity packs.
