Colyton fire crew tackles vehicle blaze at pub car park near Axminster

Firefighters from Colyton have reminded motorists to regularly service and maintain vehicles after a car caught fire near Axminster.

The Colyton crew was called to the Hunters Lodge Inn, on the Charmouth Road, Axminster, where they found a parked car on fire.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

A Colyton fire station spokesperson said: “The crew from Colyton recently attended a car fire at Hunters Lodge and quickly got to work putting it out by crew members wearing breathing apparatus, using their hose reel jets.

“Car fires are most likely to start when you’re driving which can be a terrifying experience.”

The spokesperson added: “Regular maintenance and servicing can prevent most vehicle fires.”
