‘Queen of soul’ Mica Paris to headline new Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival

UK ‘queen of soul’ Mica Paris is the headline act to rock the first-ever Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival coming to the town in June.

The organisers have promised ‘the best’ Jazz, Blues, Roots, RnB, Soul, Funk, and Latin music across the festival weekend, Thursday, June 2 until Sunday, June 5, plus free live music at a host of fringe venues across the town.

Headline afternoon and evening ticketed concerts will take place in Sidmouth Parish Church, in Church Street, while free live performances from local and regional talent will perform on their own outdoor stage.

Headline act and UK queen of soul Mica Paris – who has performed with Simply Red, Chaka Kahn, Angie Stone, Joss Stone, and Quincy Jones – is in concert during the evening on Saturday, June 4

Ian Bowden, festival director said: “We are immensely proud to be presenting the very first jazz and blues festival in Sidmouth.

“It is a wonderful town, and we are grateful for all the support that we have received throughout the community and wider region of East Devon.”

He added: “Music inspires and provides so much joy and wellbeing and I have no doubt that the festival will provide a much-needed boost after what has been such a challenging time over the recent two more years.”

Artistes confirmed to perform at the church on June 2 include multi-award-winning blues guitarist and singer Ian Siegal.

For Jazz lovers, the festival is hosting an evening concert with the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, direct from the London jazz club.

On Friday, June 3, Italian award-winning acoustic guitarist and composer Antonio Forcione, and his band, take to the stage at the church for what the festival organsiers say ‘will be an exceptional afternoon concert’.

Festival organisers said internationally-acclaimed singer, pianist, and songwriter Joe Stilgoe is in concert during the evening.
