Hospiscare Twilight Walk returns to its home in Exmouth after a two-year break

The return of the Hospicare Twilight Walk to Exmouth has been announced after a two-year break when the pandemic forced the event to turn virtual.

The pink-themed sponsored walk, in aid of Hospiscare, this year takes place on Saturday, July 9, with a new walking route of either six or 13 miles.

Entry to the event is now open, with early-bird discounts of £15 per person, and a reduction for teams, if you sign up to take part before April 11.

Hospiscare said the six-mile route, setting off from Manor Gardens, is mostly on the flat and along even paths. The 13-mile route is slightly hillier. Those taking part may be returning in the dark.

People unable to make the date, or who are keen to keep their distance, are invited to sign up to Twilight Walk ‘Your Way’ and organise their own event at home.

A Hospiscare spokesperson said: “After taking place as a virtual event for the past two years with supporters walking in their own locality, the Hospiscare team is excited to bring #TeamTwilight back to Exmouth.

“This year also marks 40 years of Hospiscare and to celebrate, there are some new and exciting changes to Twilight Walk.

“The event will take place in a new home – Manor Gardens – and features a brand-new walking route with two distance options of six and 13 miles.

“There will also be some sparkly surprises for participants as they complete the walk through Exmouth.”

All are welcome to join the Twilight Walk. The hope is entrants will pledge to raise £50 or more in sponsorship to continue Hospiscare’s care.

The Hospiscare spokesperson added: “We are looking forward to our Twilight Walk returning to its more usual format where we will be together and walk together for the first time in two years – we can’t wait.

“However, for those not able to join us in Exmouth, or not yet ready to mingle, we do have Twilight Walk ‘Your Way’, where the distance, date and route are up to you.

“‘Your Way’ walkers will receive a pack with all of the information you need and hints and tips on how to fundraise, as well as the all-important Twilight t-shirt that we hope you will wear with pride.”
