Elderly man remains in critical condition in hospital after crash in Honiton

An elderly man remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was seriously injured in a crash in Honiton on Thursday lunchtime.

Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A35 junction with Pine Park Road, Honiton, at around 12.30pm on Thursday, March 17.

A seriously-injured 79-year-old man was taken to hospital as a result of the crash and remains in a critical condition, said police.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision.

Police said specialist roads officers called to investigate the scene were continuing to examine the cause of the crash.

Motorists were told to expect delays as the road was closed for several hours at Tower Cross and Springfield Road.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 12.20pm on Thursday 17 March 2022, to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A35 at the junction with Pine Park Road in Honiton.

“As a result of the collision a 79-year-old man was taken to Royal and Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

“Officers from the specialist roads policing team attended the scene and are progressing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.”
