East Devon football round-up: Exmouth Town net another clean sheet win thanks to Levi strike as Storm Eunice hits schedule

Storm Eunice severely disrupted the local football schedule in East Devon on the penultimate Saturday of February. 
None of the district’s four teams playing in the South West Peninsula League Premier East saw any action, writes Stephen Birley.
A level above, Exmouth Town – at Step Five – did manage to play their latest Toolstation Western League game which resulted in a 1-0 Southern Road win over Wellington.
A Levi Landricombe goal in the 75th minute saw Town to a third successive home clean sheet success.
Town were one of just two clubs to host Western League Premier Division games on the day.
The other was at Clevedon Town where the home side banked the points from a 1-0 win over Shepton Mallet.
Kevin Hill and his men remain second in the table behind Tavistock Town.
The FA late last week  announced that the league season at Step Five had to end on April 23 –  a week earlier than had previously been planned. This will enable play-off fixtures to be completed.
Exmouth Town have 11 games left in their Western League campaign and are still very much ‘in the mix’ in terms of a top two finish which would extend their season to involve the play-offs.
In terms of our Step Six clubs, there was only one South West Peninsula League Premier East game played at Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police, where Torrington enjoyed a 2-1 success.
Axminster Town, who had been set to host Plymouth Marjon, Honiton Town, who were entertaining Newton Abbot Spurs, Sidmouth Town, who were set to visit Torridgeside and Ottery St Mary, who had been due to take on Ivybridge Town at Washbrook Meadows, all had to sit out a wet and windy Saturday.
At Step Seven, three games survived in the Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League, with Exmouth Town Reserves playing the penultimate game of what has been a tough campaign for the Southern Road men.
Town’s second team went down 9-0 at Alphington; a fifth straight defeat and a losing run that has seen them ship 30 goals and scored just two.

What’s coming up for East Devon clubs at Step Five, Six and Seven?

At Step Five, Exmouth Town are without a game this coming Saturday (February 26), and so are next in action when they make the short trip  into Somerset for a third meeting with Wellington inside 32 days.
Town beat the Bootmen 3-0 in a Les Phillips Cup tie at the start of this month, then won Saturday’s league meeting 1-0.
They next go head-to-head in a swift league return on Saturday week (March 5).
In terms of our four clubs playing at Step Six this coming Saturday (February 26), Honiton Town are also without a game.
Axminster Town entertain basement side Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police (3pm kick-off) at Tiger Way.
Sidmouth Town are also in home action with the Vikings entertaining Newton Abbot Spurs.
Completing a clean-sweep of home East Devon action on Saturday are Ottery St Mary who host Torrington.
The Step Seven action on Saturday sees Exmouth Town Reserves complete their league season when they entertain Liverton United at Southern Road (3pm).
Feniton will take to their Acland Park pitch for the final time in terms of the league season when they host North Molton Sports.
Budleigh Salterton are also in action – the Robins travel to Newtown.
