Seaton blaze leaves contents of garage ‘completely destroyed’

The inside of a garage at Seaton was completely destroyed by fire when a blaze broke out on Sunday evening (February 13).

Firefighters from East Devon were called to the town shortly before 7.30pm where they found the premises and its contents were well-alight.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used jets to tackle the blaze, and a thermal imaging camera to check if the fire was out.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Seaton and Colyton attended a detached garage that was on fire. Upon arrival they confirmed that the garage and its contents were well alight and requested the attendance of another fire engine which was sent from Axminster.

“The crews used two breathing apparatus wearers with a hose reel and a main jet to extinguish the fire.

“A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots and to ensure it was completely out.”

The spokesperson added: “Unfortunately the contents of the garage were completely destroyed by the fire.”
