Axminster: Launch of weekly outreach service announced for Dalwood Post Office as postmaster retires

The retirement of the postmaster at Dalwood, Axminster, has resulted in the closure of the Post Office and the launch of an outreach service.

The branch, at The Knapp, Dalwood, closes on Thursday (January 27) and services at the current site will not be reinstated until Friday, February 11, when the postmaster of Churchinford begins weekly ‘hosted outreach’ opening times.

From February 11, a Post Office service will be available in Dalwood every Friday, 10am until noon, at The Knapp.

Until the new outreach service starts, alternative Post Office branches can be found nearby at:

  • Membury Post Office, Membury Village Hall, Membury, Axminster, EX13 7AF
  • Axminster Post Office, West Street, Axminster, EX13 5NU
  • Colyton Post Office, Market Place, Colyton, Devon, EX24 6JR

A Post Office spokesperson said: “An outreach Post Office is to be introduced to restore service to Dalwood with the retirement of the current postmaster.”

They added: “We will reinstate Post Office services as a hosted outreach, commencing on Friday 11 February.

“This will be provided at the current premises by the postmaster for Churchinford.

“This service will be provided every Friday from 10am – 12 noon.”
