A woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was involved in a crash on the M5 at Exeter on Sunday night (December 12).
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after two cars, a BMW1 Series and Vauxhall Corsa, crashed at around 9.15pm on the south bound carriageway of the M5 just before junction 31, at Exeter.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the driver of the Vauxhall was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the BMW was left with minor injuries, said police.
The road was closed while forensic investigations of the scene were carried out.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 9.15pm on Sunday 12 December 2021 a two-vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the south bound carriageway of the M5 just prior to junction31.
“The collision involved a BMW 1 Series and a Vauxhall Corsa.
“As a result of the collision, the driver of the Vauxhall has sustained life threatening injuries. The BMW driver sustained minor injuries.
“The driver of the Vauxhall was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.”
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers from the Alliance Firearms Team and officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene.”
The police spokesperson added: “Once a forensic investigation had been conducted the road was re-opened.
“Police would like to thank the public for their patience whilst we dealt with the collision.”
