Woman with suspected broken ankle on East Devon beach is rescued by Beer coastguards

The coastguard rescue team from Beer was tasked to an East Devon beach on Sunday lunchtime (November 7) to help a woman with a suspected broken ankle.

The coastguard team was tasked to Brancombe Beach shortly before 2.30pm after a woman was reported to be injured after stumbling.

After the casualty was located, the Beer coastguard members stayed with the woman until paramedics arrived, then helped carry her to a waiting ambulance.

A Beer Coastguard Rescue spokesperson said: “We were tasked to a lady who had stumbled and had a suspected broken ankle.

“The first team members on scene located the casualty and gave support until the rest of the team arrived at the same time as the ambulance.

“The paramedic treated the patient and splinted her leg before we packaged her onto our stretcher and carried her to the ambulance.”
