Honiton crew called to lorry carrying concrete reported on fire in East Devon

A lorry carrying concrete reported on fire in East Devon on Saturday morning (November 6) was extinguished by crews from Honiton and Chard.

Firefighters were called to Yarcombe, near Honiton, at around 6.30am, where they found a lorry alight, which was left with fire damage.

The cause of the blaze was accidental, the fire service said.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire crews were sent to a report of a concrete lorry that was on fire.

“On arrival crews confirmed that the lorry cab had already burnt out, and used one hose reel jet to fully extinguish the fire.

“The cause of the fire was accidental and there was 80 per cent fire damage.”
