East Devon: Village halls in Lympstone and Northleigh net combined £6,000 for improvements

A pair of village halls in East Devon are set to receive a combined total of £6,000 to help make much-needed improvements.

The hubs in Lympstone and Northleigh will benefit from cash from the district council’s Community Building Fund.

Lympstone Village Hall will receive £3,364 towards audio-visual equipment, including a new ceiling projector, to help it become more sustainable.

Northleigh Village Hall will get £2,590 towards the cost of resurfacing its car park, making it safer for people with mobility issues to use the venue.

East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) Community Building Fund offers up to £5,000 to help village halls, community buildings and shops.

It aims to help rural venues with funding for projects such as new or improved toilet and kitchen facilities, roof repairs, heating and new door fixtures.

The next closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Premises within an area covered by a town council are not eligible to apply.

Chair of EDDC’s Community Grants Panel Councillor Jack Rowland said: “As the next closing date is on January 14, 2022, I’d encourage eligible bids to be submitted for consideration.

“The latest successful bids perfectly illustrate what can be achieved with assistance from this grant fund to make improvements to community buildings that have such an important role to play.”
