Reuben, six, is named fastest finisher of Book Track Award at Ottery Library

A six-year-old keen reader is thought to have smashed Ottery Library’s record for completing the Book Track Award in record time.

Reuben Marshall, pictured here, recently celebrated reading 100 books at Ottery St Mary Library, finishing the challenge in under six months after polishing off up 10 books a week.

Staff said they believe Reuben could be the library’s fastest Book Track finisher, completing the reading task in five months.

Xanthe Waite, library supervisor, said: “We think that Reuben may be our fastest-ever Book Tracker.

“He read his 100 books in just five months. He said that he was reading about 10 books every week and is very excited about his reading.

“His favourite was a fact book called Spinosaurus, and he’s keen to continue reading more.”

The Devon Libraries Book Track award encourages children to read, with youngsters discussing each finished book with library staff.
