Combine harvester badly damaged by fire in Broadclyst as Exeter crews tackle blaze

Exeter firefighters tacked a combine harvester blaze in Broadclyst which left the agricultural machinery badly damaged.

Crews from Danes Castle and Middlemoor were called to the East Devon village at around 4.30pm on Friday, September 3.

They donned breathing apparatus and used compressed air foam and hose-reel jets to tackle the flames.

The combine was ‘severely damaged’ by the fire, the cause of which was accidental.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire appliances and the water bowser attended a combine harvester on fire.

“Crews put the fire out using two breathing apparatus, two compressed air foam jets and one hose-reel jet.

“The combine was severely damaged by the fire, which was accidental ignition.”
