There is plenty of football this bank holiday weekend for East Devon clubs – with a host of fixtures on Saturday, August 28.
Top billing locally goes to the Toolstation Western League game at Southern Road where Exmouth Town will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season in both league and FA Cup when they entertain Cadbury Heath (3pm).
The top local game in the South West Peninsula League Premier East is at Washbrook Meadows where Ottery St Mary, who have made an unbeaten start in terms of home games at the higher level, entertain Torridgeside with this game having an earlier than usual kick-off – 1.30pm.
The other three East Devon teams that play in the SWP League are all away with Axminster Town, Honiton Town and Sidmouth Town travelling to Holsworthy, Torrington and Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police respectively.
In the Joma Devon & Exeter League, the ‘big game’ is arguably the one at Tiger Way where Axminster Town Reserves take on Ottery St Mary Reserves in a Premier Division game (3pm).
There’s also Premier Division action for Beer Albion, who entertain Thorverton (3pm) and Sidmouth Town Reserves who play host Dawlish United (3pm).
In Division One, the local games are at East Budleigh versus Chard Town Reserves (3pm) and there’s an East Devon derby at Coronation Field where Topsham Town Reserves host Lympstone (3pm).
In Division Two, the action is at Otterton and Tipton St John who host Alphington Thirds and Clyst Valley Reserves, both games having 3pm start times.
In Division Three, there is action at Lyme Regis where the second team entertain Westexe Park Rangers and also at Seaton Town where Devon Yeoman provide the opposition and again, both games start at 3pm.
The Division Four action is at Colyton where the second team are in home action against Cullompton Rangers Reserves.
In Division Five, Cranbrook United entertain Amory Green Rovers (3pm) while there is a local derby at Offwell Rangers who entertain Awliscombe (3pm).
In Division Six, there’s a home game for Uplyme who take on Falcons FC (3pm).
In Division Seven, there’s an East Devon derby with Sidmouth Town Thirds entertain Otterton Reserves (3pm).
In Division Eight, Millwey Rise Reserves host Whipton & Pinhoe. In Division Nine there was scheduled action at a couple of East Devon venues, but Covid issues have led to cancellations.
