Ottery St Mary Food and Families Festival is back with new date and location

The popular Ottery St Mary Food and Families Festival is to return with a new date and location.

Festivities will take place on Saturday, September 11, on a site in Alfington Road next to Otter Garden Centres.

The event has previously fallen victim to a number of postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A new location means the festival will be all in one place – with a ‘real carnival feel’ promised.

One of the event’s organisers, Ruud Jansen Venneboer, said: “Everyone is geared up ready to make this the best Ottery St Mary Food and Families Festival ever!

“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the new festival site in just a few weeks’ time.”

A central arena with hay bales will provide a picnic area and will be surrounded by producer stalls and catering stands.

And in response to feedback from previous festivals, there will be more for youngsters to do to.

Thelma Hulbert Gallery’s new travelling ‘Creative Cabin’ is set to provide a fun space to explore art and nature and local outdoor learning expert Alan Bruford will be on hand to impart bushcraft skills.

Music will be a bigger part of the event than ever before, with a dedicated performance stage.

Still to be revealed is a stellar line up of chefs taking part in the cookery demonstrations.

Otter Garden Centres is headline sponsor of the event for the sixth time.

Head of marketing Katherine Govier said: “It’s always a lovely festival which comes up trumps every time, with a fantastic selection of delicious food to enjoy and produce to take home.

“After the setbacks from the pandemic we’re all looking forward to enjoying the festival day once again.”
