Traffic tailbacks on A30 near Ottery after van and car crash near Clyst Honiton

Traffic was tailed back in both directions on the A30 near the Daisymount turn-off to Ottery on Wednesday morning (August 4) after a crash involving a car and van.

Police received reports at around 11.20am of a black van and a red car involved in a collision on the Exeter-bound carriageway, near Clyst Honiton.

The van collided with the central reservation, said police.

Police said the fire service attended the crash. No ambulance was needed as only minor injuries were reported.

Traffic travelling on both side of the carriageway was slow as lane closures were in place  while the emergency services cleared debris from the road.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: “This was reported to us at 11.20am today on 4 August.

“There was a collision involving a van and a car on the A30 at Clyst Honiton.

“The van was in collision with the central reservation.”

She added: “The Exeter-bound carriageway was closed and traffic was affected both sides due to debris.”

The road closure was left in the hands of Highways, who ‘installed lane two closure in both directions’, and warned motorists to ‘approach with caution’ and expect delays.
