Police appeal after three people are seriously injured in Exmouth car crash

Police are appealing for witnesses of a car crash in Exmouth that left three people with suspected serious injuries.

The three-vehicle collision happened in Exeter Road at around 6.45pm on Saturday, July 31.

It involved a blue Suzuki Splash, a black Renault Clio, and a grey Hyundai Tuscon.

The elderly driver and front-seat passenger of the Suzuki were seriously injuried and were taken to hospital.

The driver of the Renault, a woman in her 20s, also suffered a ‘potentially serious injury’.

Devon and Cornwall Police is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from the area at the time.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 6.45pm on Saturday, July 31, to Exeter Road, Exmouth, following reports of a three-vehicle collision.

“The incident involved a blue-coloured Suzuki Splash, a black-coloured Renault Clio and a grey-coloured Hyundai Tuscon.

“The elderly driver and front-seat passenger of the Suzuki sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

“The driver of the Renault Clio, a woman in her 20s, also sustained a potentially serious injury.

“Specialist officers from the Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and commenced an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.

“The road was closed for some hours while this investigation was completed, and police would like to thank the members of public for their patience and co-operation.

“Any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision who may have dashcam footage of the incident are asked to please telephone 101 quoting log 856 of 31 July 2021.”
