Police warn Exmouth and East Devon residents about four ‘pushy’ odd-job men driving yellow van, knocking door-to-door

Police are warning residents in Exmouth and East Devon of four ‘pushy’ men in a yellow van, knocking on doors, offering to clean guttering and windows.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the ‘intimidating’ men have been spotted driving around in a yellow Ford flatbed vehicle with extension ladders in the rear.

Officers are urging against agreeing any jobs for the ‘rogue traders’, telling residents to report sightings to police, call 101 if they knock at the door, or 999 if the men turn aggressive.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “A group of four white males using a yellow Ford flatbed vehicle with extension ladders in the load area have been going door-to-door offering to clean guttering and windows and carry out other jobs for house holders.

“The males are rather pushy and could be intimidating to some.

“If they call at your house please do not engage them to carry out any such work and when possible call 101 the non-urgent police contact number, or click 101 on the Devon and Cornwall Police website to notify us that they have been seen in your area.

“If the males become aggressive in any way, please call 999.”
