Police seek witnesses to car crash in Exeter where passenger died

Police are appealing for witnesses after a passenger died when a car crashed in Exeter on Wednesday morning (July 14).

Devon and Cornwall Police, carrying out a forensic examination of the collision site, closed Bridge Road, near Countess Wear, for several hours after the single-vehicle crash.

Police said a man travelling in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the crash.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Bridge Road, Exeter at around 10.50pm, on Wednesday 14 July.

“A man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic examination of the collision scene was conducted.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team who attended are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision to come forward.”
