British Transport Police (BTP) officers are working to discover the identity of a person discovered dead on rail tracks near Exmouth on Tuesday morning (June 15).
Paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 11.30am, where a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the death and incident was not being treated as suspicious.
Officers from BTP are working to trace the dead person’s next of kin.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “British Transport Police were called to the line near Exmouth at 11.24am today, 15 June, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
