PHOTOS: Scuba diver spots ‘magical’ dolphin pod off Budleigh Salterton

A scuba diver who photographed a pod of dolphins in the water off Budleigh Salterton put his success down to ‘right place, right time’.

Steve Pease watched the ‘magical’ creatures splash and play in the sea at Budleigh Bay on Sunday morning (June 13).

Steve, a keen photographer, had been dive ready when he spotted the dolphins off Budleigh, but grabbed his camera instead to capture these images.

He said seeing the pod in the water had been an ‘awesome’ way to start the day.

The dolphins could be seen for around 10 minutes, before disappearing from sight, said Steve.

He said: “We were just kitting up to go for a scuba dive when I noticed the pod.

“Luckily I had my camera in the van.

“They hung around for a good ten minutes. I was right place at the right time, I guess.  It was just magical.”
