Teenager dies and two men are injured after car crashes in East Budleigh

A teenager died and two men were injured after a car crashed in East Budleigh on Wednesday night (May 26).

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a blue Ford Fiesta, with three inside, collided with a wall on Budleigh Hill, at around 10pm.

An 18-year-old man from North Devon died at the scene and another man was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

A third man had minor injuries, police said.

Budleigh Hill was closed for several hours while officers examined the scene and the road was cleared.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle before the crash, or from those in the area at the time of the collision.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for information about a fatal collision in East Budleigh, East Devon, on Wednesday 26 May.

“The incident occurred at around 10pm on Budleigh Hill and involved a blue Ford Fiesta, with three occupants, colliding with a wall.

“Police attended alongside the ambulance and fire service.

“Sadly, one of the occupants, an 18-year-old man from North Devon, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Another man sustained serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, and is being treated at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and the third male occupant sustained minor injuries.

“Budleigh Hill was closed for several hours while officers conducted a forensic examination of the scene and for the vehicle to be recovered and the road cleared.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses of the incident, or anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the vehicle prior to the collision.”
