Sidmouth firefighters tackle car blaze that spread to hedge at Sidford

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to tackle a car blaze that spread to a hedge at Two Bridges Road, Sidford, near Sidmouth.

A crew from Sidmouth was called shortly before 6pm on Sunday (May 23) where they found a Ford Focus well-alight.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “One appliance from Sidmouth was mobilised following reports to the fire service control of a vehicle on fire.

“On arrival at the location crew confirmed the vehicle was well-alight and got to work to extinguish it.

“One Ford Focus involved was on fire, which had spread to the hedgerow.

“Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.”
