‘No date’ for toilet repair after vandals smash public loo overnight in Budleigh

Vandals forced the closure of a public toilet in Budleigh Salterton after the loo and sink was smashed.

Police said the Lime Kiln car park public loo was targeted overnight after entry was gained to a cubicle sometime between Sunday, February 28 and the following morning.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) said it currently had no date for repairing the toilet facilities.

Devon and Cornwall Police appealed for anyone with information about the criminal damage to get in touch.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report of criminal damage to a public toilet in Salting Hill, Budleigh Salterton, which was said to have taken place sometime between 3pm on Sunday 28 February and 8am on Monday 1 March.

“Entry was gained to a cubicle and a porcelain toilet and sink were smashed.”

An EDDC spokesperson said: “A public toilet at Lime Kiln in Budleigh has been criminally damaged overnight.

“Sadly, we have had to close the toilet. We have no date for repair currently.”

The district council urged the public to contact police with information about the culprits.
