These photos show a ‘wonderwall’ of hundreds of icicles in East Devon when vehicles splashing a water-filled dip in the road created a natural sculpture.
Vehicles driving along the B3181, between Westclyst and Broadclyst, this week helped this natural work of art evolve as their heavy tyres hit a large puddle, sending a shower of water onto the hedgerow multiple times a day.
Combined with bitter winds and freezing temperatures that have this week hit the county, the water quickly turned to ice, forming hundreds of spikes in a natural sculpture, towering more than six feet high above the pavement.
Many motorists, spotting the natural phenomenon, stopped on the side of the road to take photographs before temperatures rose, and the ice melted.
