Man cut free from car by firefighters after two-vehicle crash in Axminster

A man cut free from his car and taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Axminster sustained minor injuries, police have confirmed.

Officers, firefighters and paramedics were called to Trafalgar Way following the collision at around 5.30pm on Thursday, February 11.

The road was closed for three-and-a-half hours as a result of the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “One person had to be cut from their vehicle but only suffered minor injuries.

“The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and reopened shortly after 9pm.”

Firefighters from Axminster and Charmouth attended the scene.

An Axminster Fire Station spokesperson said: “Once in attendance our crew immediately stabilised the vehicle whilst one of our co-responders was deployed to give re-assurance and first-aid to a trapped male within one vehicle.

“Upon arrival of the ambulance service, our crews assisted with safely extricating the casualty so he could be conveyed to hospital by land ambulance.

“A second male from the second vehicle was free and clear from the vehicles upon our arrival.”
