Ottery retired residents and local businesses rally to raise funds for Hospiscare

A Christmas raffle for retired residents living at an Ottery St Mary development has raised funds for Hospiscare.

Residents living at Tumbling Weir Court raised £50 for Hopsicare buying tickets to win a host of prizes, including a festive hamper, wine and chocolates donated by local businesses.

The money raised helped fund Christmas dinner for Hospiscare families while their loved-ones received care at the hospice.

Toni Hiscox, East Devon Hospiscare community fundraiser, announced the winners, presenting Mr and Mrs Dean with the festive hamper.

Toni said: “Last year was full of unprecedented challenges, so it was really important that we were still able to provide families with Christmas lunch to make this difficult time a little easier for them.

“We would like to say thank you to the homeowners and team at Tumbling Weir Court for their kind donation.

“The money raised provided Christmas lunch with all the trimmings for two families of four.”

Nicki Beswarick, McCarthy Stone spokeswoman, said: “It was great to see so many homeowners purchasing raffle tickets to help raise money for such an important cause.

“We’re really proud of the homeowners for their sheer determination and rallying together for local charities, even in these difficult times.”
