A fundraising champion for Exmouth RNLI will take part in a virtual Reindeer Run this weekend to boost the lifesaving charity.
Des White, who doubles as a volunteer tour guide at the town’s lifeboat station, will be pounding the pavement along the seafront for an hour on Saturday (December 12).

Des, who chairs Exmouth RNLI’s fundraising committee, is taking part in the Christmas tradition which this year is different due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The festivities normally see people across the country don their running shoes and a pair of antlers and take part in organised RNLI Reindeer Run events.
But Covid restrictions mean the charity has made changes to ensure the fundraiser can still go ahead with participants remaining safe and complying with government rules.
Des, who ran the London Marathon in aid of the cause in 2019, will be among thousands of people taking part virtually at the weekend.
He said: “I will be running along Exmouth seafront on Saturday (December 12), starting at 9am at the lifeboat station and I aim to finish at about 10am.
“This year has been a particularly difficult year for the RNLI charity, with the cancellation of numerous fundraising events, our shops closed and it being impossible for our amazing supporters to arrange collections, so I want to take this opportunity to raise as much as I can for our lifesavers.”
The charity has managed to maintain its essential lifesaving service throughout the pandemic.
It is hoped the weekend’s important fundraiser will raise much-needed cash for the cause to continue its vital work.

The virtual Reindeer Run event is open for anyone to take part in – be it a gallop, canter, trot or walk of 1k, 5k, 10k or more at their own pace at any time or location.
